Press release from the Catalan Association of Public Universities on the situation in Ukraine
"Over the last few hours, we have learned that Russia, with the help of Belarus, has launched a large-scale military attack on Ukraine. We strongly condemn the use of military aggression as an instrument to resolve territorial disputes, which is contrary to international law and human rights, and we express the need to address and resolve political problems by means of democratic principles, dialogue and respect for peoples and minorities.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, reaffirming that the path of diplomacy and dialogue must prevail at all times in international relations and coexistence between peoples. "

"In the face of military aggression against Ukraine by Russia and its allies, the Vives Universities Network ratifies the commitment of universities to peace and rejection of war. We condemn, once again, any expression of violence and we reaffirm our defense of the values of dialogue in democracy as the only way to find solutions to political, territorial and social conflicts.
We support the position of the European Association of Universities in expressing our solidarity with the 26 institutions of higher education and research in Ukraine, and we offer all the support that is available to us in the face of this situation.
The Xarxa Vives d’Universitats is fully committed to peace and cooperation, and looks forward to reflection, moderation and a speedy end to this war. We rely on the mediation by the United Nations so that peace can soon be restored in Ukraine on the foundations of democratic values.

Crue Spanish Universities want to transfer all their support and solidarity to the academic institutions of Ukraine, their university communities and the population of this country in these difficult times.
Nothing is more contrary to the spirit of the University than violence. We strongly condemn the aggression initiated by the Russian state and call for diplomacy to return to its rightful place as a means of resolving a conflict which, if not stopped immediately, could have unimaginable consequences.
Spanish universities will collaborate and cooperate, through their academic networks and institutional relations, in everything possible to redirect a situation that should never have happened. "
